My name is Dr. C.K. Huang, a Taiwanese-Canadian dentist currently practicing in Hokkaido, Japan. In recent years, Japan has seen a substantial rise in its foreign resident population. By the end of 2024, the number of foreign nationals living in Japan surpassed 3.7 million—an increase of 10.5% from the previous year—setting a record high for the third consecutive year. Despite this growing diversity, many foreign residents and visitors still face significant language and cultural barriers when accessing healthcare, particularly dental care. Recognizing this gap, our clinic is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible environment by offering professional dental services in English, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese. Our goal is to ensure that all patients, regardless of their language background, feel comfortable, understood, and well-cared for throughout their dental experience.

My Story

I was born in Taipei, Taiwan and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada—a multicultural environment that shaped my global perspective from an early age. In 2014, I moved to Japan to pursue my dream of becoming a dentist. After completing dental school, I faced a pivotal decision: should I return to Taiwan or Canada, or remain in Japan to continue my training as a resident doctor? Ultimately, I chose to stay. Over the years, I developed a deep appreciation for Japanese culture, language, and the people I met along the way. Although navigating life and building a professional career in Japan as a foreign doctor has presented its fair share of challenges, my passion for dentistry and my desire to serve the community pushed me forward. I am committed to bridging cultural and language gaps in healthcare, and to making high-quality, compassionate dental care accessible to all—especially those who may feel underserved or overlooked in a foreign environment.
